Dartmoor National Park Authority – One Planet Dartmoor Aug 2009

This year is the 60th anniversary of the legislation that created National Parks in England and Wales.  Dartmoor National Park are choosing to celebrate this by launching ‘One Planet Dartmoor’ to build a low carbon future for this beautiful area of England.

 

The Dartmoor National Park Authority (DNPA) plans to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the legislation that created the National Parks in England and Wales by looking forwards and launching their ”One Planet Dartmoor” project at the “Dartmoor-Exmoor Low Carbon Festival” on October 9th 2009 at the Met Office in Exeter. The launch will:

• Explain the concept of the ‘One Planet Dartmoor’.
• Set out the vision and range of practical actions for ‘One Planet Dartmoor’ in a project brief.
• Give the opportunity to exhibit and communicate our plans and ideas for the future.

While DNPA have taken the lead in the development of ‘One Planet Dartmoor’, they recognise that such a radical vision will require a dynamic partnership of everyone with an interest in th e future of Dartmoor.  It is their intention to build such a partnership through the ‘One Planet Dartmoor’ project. To date they have:

• Worked closely with the Dartmoor Circle who are engaging local communities around the park in the ‘One Planet’ debate.
• Involved our staff members to develop their ideas for the ‘One Planet Dartmoor’.
• Held a workshop to engage our strategic partners.

Alan Caldwell Associates have helped DNPA to develop this exciting project and have designed and facilitated a full range of participatory workshops.
